Gone But Not Forgotten Blogfest!

That's right, Erinn, Alicia, Holly, and Pam and Quinta are doing a blogfest! Specifically one devoted to extinct television - five TV shows no longer making new episodes that should return.

This was actually easier than I thought it would be. I don't watch too much TV these days but there are shows I thought were awesome that got cancelled too soon. (Hm. Connection? I think Yes.)

I think I managed to scratch up a good list. So without further ado, I give you... my 5.

5) Dead Like Me.
I really liked the story and the dark humor in Dead Like Me. The premise was cool and the characters interesting. And just when I really started to get to know them? Gone. I was sad.

4) Reno 911.
I used to think this show was stupid. And then I heard that the scenes were largely improvisational. For some reason, that totally changed the way I saw Reno 911. After that, I found it HI-larious.

3) Deadwood.
I was really disappointed that this series didn't continue through the final installments. We flew through the DVDs via Netflix, and I found the characters and the world really interesting. This was a vivid, gritty, compelling drama that kept me interested, even when they sort of went over the top.

2) Greg the Bunny.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when this show was cut, but I was. I thought it was hysterical. There was a paintball episode that made me laugh so hard my sides hurt. Sadly... couldn't find a clip of that one.

1)  Firefly.
Clearly, this is a no-brainer. Space. Outlaw/Old-west. Nathan Fillion. For serious... I wish this show had taken off before it was canned.

That's my list of TV shows that I wish would return (but not as Zombies). What TV shows do you miss?

  1. Every one of those shows made me smile. I loved Greg the Bunny. But I love anything with Seth Green.

Dead like me was a perfect show. I loved the one with the gay couple. I never cried so much during a show.

    Excellent list! Well done mo!

  8. What's funny is these are some of Hubby's favorite off the air shows, I think. I haven't watched most of them though.

  10. My cousin loved Reno 911, and he said the same thing. I never watched an episode, though. You had an interesting list -- Firefly definitely a popular one in this blogfest!

    Have a great weekend!

  14. Much agreed on your number one choice. Firefly was a fantastic show and it's still rather heartbreaking to know that there will no longer be any new episodes. I say this as an absolute hypocrite though, because when the show originally aired it was one of those "I'll get around to it" programs, despite the fact that I'm thisclose to making a golden shrine to Joss Whedon.

Another dearly departed show that I'd love to see return is Freaks and Geeks. One season was not enough.

  15. I feel like Reno 9-1-1 was ahead of its time. Much like Arrested Development.

Seeing how well The Office is doing now makes me wonder if that audience wouldn't have carried over.

    Great list!

  16. Oh -- also -- cool that your blog is a mix! My hubs is a triathlete -- used to swim in college. I don't really have an athletic bone in my body, but I admire those of you who do! :)
