Aaah, Zombies!

You know those terrible, bloody, stupid zombie movies?

I'm not talking about the ones where the zombies are actually scary - freaky, fast-moving, impossible-to-escape mauling machines. I'm talking about the slow shuffle, pop-out-from-around-corners-to-nom-stupid-characters films.

Alright, well this movie is kind of like that, but with a twist that makes it interesting and, at times, funny.

The premise is actually really creative.

Not knowing anything about the film (it was Matt's pick) I watched the first two minutes and dismissed it. Five minutes later, I looked back and was hooked. Had I known, I would have stuck out the first scene. (snap judgment fail)

Check out the trailer and judge for yourself!

Happy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday.

Last night, I submitted a short story to a literary journal for the first time ever.

This was a big step for me. For a while I thought I would send the story to The New Yorker. Rejection letters are part of the process, and I thought it would be totally fine if my first one was from a magazine like that. ;)

In the end, I picked a more appropriate review. I should hear something in April. Unless I wrote my cover letter wrong and they bin it. I feel like I read the directions about 43 times.

I can't thank my last-minute eyes, Susan, Meghan, and Erinn, enough. Ladies... you rock awesome socks.

Now to wait.

What are YOU waiting for (besides your pair of Awesome Socks)?  Tell me in the comments below!

Happy Valentine's Day

Because everyone needs a reason to smile....

Happy Valentine's Day!

Good Morning, Science.

Today is looking like a busy day - lots to do, plus I don't really want to stay late and spend my evening commute dodging people who can't drive in the snow.  On the plus side, I got into the lab early.

Also, maybe I need more sleep.  At several points this morning I realized that I was rockin' a throwback style from the '90s.  It may be a message from my subconscious.

Hmm.

On to science.  Enjoy the day, everyone.

Holidays + Zombie Apocolypse = ....

I had originally intended to continue the look forward to 2011 (literally. Time travel will work. I found how on the Internets.), but then I discovered some vital information on Slice of the Blog Pie.

Good thing, too, because I have some cooking and baking left to do this holiday season.  I would have been woefully unprepared without this instructional video.  I'm reposting it here, so you can learn too. And remember - knowing is half the battle.
